Industry Collaboration
Dr. Ben Ellis recently joined INL to support a new industry collaboration program, the goal of which is to foster a collaborative approach to research  across departments, fields, and industries.   Ben has over 20 years of experience planning and developing renewable energy, transmission, and microgrid projects.  He recently ran the North American power and energy team at Louis Berger where he was responsible for a diverse group of environmental planners and engineers that study, design, permit, finance, contract, and build utility scale energy projects.  Prior to that, Ben ran a renewable energy development company that focused on wind, solar, and hydro projects in western states.  Ben has technical skills in economic modeling, socioeconomics, and land use planning, and management skills overseeing the planning and permitting of complex energy projects.  Ben received his doctorate in Natural Resource Economics from the University of New Hampshire in 2001; an MBA in 1998; and a B.S. in 1991.
